We are currently looking to recruit for the following positions:
Mechanical Design Engineer
About the Role
We are looking for a skilled and detail-orientated Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Engineering Team.
This is a key role within our design department, contributing to the development of high-quality, compliant technical solutions across the Reliance product range, being responsible for the entire design process from engaging with the customer for their requirements through to design verification. This role requires both technical expertise and commercial awareness, including managing design budgets and influencing clients.
This opportunity has arisen at the time when the Engineering Team is pivotal to achieving a cost-effective work environment that contributes to the company’s success.
This role may be involved with sensitive tasks or information that require a Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check. This will involve the Basic DBS check of your criminal record as well as your identity, your right to work and your employment history.
Responsibilities include the following but not limited to:
- Leading the design, development and testing of new products.
- Revise and improve the design of existing products.
- Provide support to the manufacturing teams.
- Provide technical support to non-technical teams.
The successful candidate will have experience in the following:
- Demonstrable experience in a mechanical design engineering position.
- Fundamental precision engineering and manufacturing principles.
- Technical drawing to BS8888.
- 3D CAD (SolidWorks and SolidWorks PDM desirable but not essential).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Presentation skills.
Qualifications
- Degree level qualification in an Engineering discipline.
- Apprentice trained in mechanical engineering (desirable).

- Excellent attention to detail.
- Problem solving and time management skills.
Hours of Work
Permanent, full-time contract. Based on-site working Monday to Friday 38 hours per week.
The Engineering Technology and Design Team
The team is responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining products, systems, and processes. Their core goal is to solve technical problems and build effective, efficient solutions using engineering principles.
