Reliance Apprentice Named Engineering/Manufacturing Apprentice of the Year

Reliance Precision Limited (‘Reliance’) is delighted to announce that Maegan Green, Apprentice Mechanical Design Engineer, has been named Engineering/Manufacturing Apprentice of the Year at the West Yorkshire Apprenticeship Awards 2025.
The annual awards were hosted by Rich Williams (Radio DJ and Event Presenter) at the Cedar Court Hotel in Bradford on Thursday, 1 May. The awards are designed to honour the region’s outstanding apprenticeship network and celebrate innovation and excellence across West Yorkshire. The winners were decided by an impartial panel of industry experts who all have a particular interest in apprenticeships.
Fellow apprentice, Leon Tomlinson (Apprentice Assembly Test Engineer) received a Highly Commended certificate in the Advanced Apprentice of the Year category. Maegan and Leon were nominated in their respective categories by colleagues who felt they were deserving candidates. They will both graduate this year, having joined the scheme in 2021, after completing their GCSEs at King James’s School.
Maegan is an Apprentice Mechanical Design Engineer in the Standard Products and Integrated Solutions team. She is involved with the design and test of engineering solutions for customers in the analytical instrument, medical and laboratory automation markets. She was nominated by her colleagues for her exceptional commitment and enthusiasm towards her studies and professional development.
Maegan Green comments:
“Winning the Engineering/Manufacturing Apprentice of the Year award was a truly proud and humbling moment for me. It felt like recognition not just of my hard work and progress throughout the apprenticeship, but also of the support and encouragement I’ve received from my mentor, colleagues, and assessors at Reliance. Being acknowledged among so many talented individuals in the industry gave me a real sense of achievement and boosted my confidence in what I can accomplish moving forward.”
Robert Farrell, Training School Manager, added:
“Both Maegan and Leon deserve enormous credit for their outstanding achievements and the contributions they continue to make to the business. It’s been incredibly rewarding to watch them grow and develop through their apprenticeships into the skilled and dedicated professionals they are today. We were thrilled when both were named finalists – a fantastic recognition in itself – and absolutely overjoyed when Maegan was announced as the winner of the West Yorkshire Engineering/Manufacturing Apprentice of the Year award. We’re also extremely proud of Leon for being highly commended in his category – a remarkable accomplishment that reflects his hard work, determination, and the quality of his performance throughout the apprenticeship. Being acknowledged at such a high level is a testament to their effort and the strength of the apprenticeship programme here at Reliance. It was a truly special moment to celebrate their success together as a team.”
