Environmental Health & Safety Manager

About The Role

We are looking for an EHS Manager to join our business on a full-time permanent contract based at Reliance Precision Limited, Huddersfield, West Yorkshire and will involve limited travel to our site in Bandon, Co. Cork, Ireland.

This is an opportunity to lead and shape EHS strategy across a respected precision engineering business supplying aerospace, defence, analytical instrumentation and space sectors.

You will be responsible for managing the effective delivery of Environmental, Health & Safety activities at our Huddersfield site and work closely with colleagues at our Ireland operation.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and strategic direction for Environmental, Health & Safety across the business.
  • Influence operational and leadership teams to deliver a strong safety culture.
  • Run the EHS Committee/team meetings and provide guidance to all areas of the business in executing their specific EHS responsibilities.
  • Establish and review EHS policies, procedures, and other documentation to ensure compliance with legislation, industry best practice, ISO45001 and ISO14001. This includes the continuous monitoring and review of EHS Manual, Legal Register(s), the reporting of KPIs and EHS metrics along with commentary.
  • Perform continuous reviews for hazard identification, risk analysis and assist local managers in implementation of RAMS, COSHH, PTW, DSEAR, PUWER, LOLER, PSSR, DSE, HAVS, LEV, Noise, Legionella, Racking and Manual Handling assessments.
  • Manage Accident/Incident Reporting and investigation requirements including the submission of reports to relevant Authorities and RIDDOR requirements.
  • Coordinate Emergency Response Plans (ERP) with associated training and practise.
  • Ensure the effective management of Fire Life Safety provisions and co-ordinate the requirements of building evacuation drills and related practices.
  • Monitor the EHS induction and onboarding process for new employees, recommending improvements to ensure effective practices are in place.
  • Management of the annual EHS audits and safety climate tool.
  • Management of safety training and first aid provisions.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential:

  • At least 3 years’ industry experience in EHS leadership
  • ISO14001 or ISO45001 auditing qualification
  • NEBOSH Diploma or Certificate in Health & Safety (or equivalent)
  • NEBOSH General Certificate in Environmental Management
  • GCSE Maths and English or equivalent
  • Bachelor’s degree, HCD/HND, or equivalent in Engineering, Quality or HSE
  • Valid, UK driving license
  • Strong interpersonal skills to form effective working relationships
  • Clear communication skills with all stakeholders in the business
  • Problem-solving and conflict resolution

 

 Desirable:

  • Lead auditor qualification/experience
  • NEBOSH Environmental Certificate, or equivalent
  • Member/chartered member of a recognized professional body (IOSH/IIRSM)

Hours of Work

Permanent, full-time contract
38 hours per week – working on site (08:00 – 17:00 Monday – Thursday, 08:00 – 12:00 Friday)
