This month, the Reliance Orbiters team attended a regional launch event as part of the UK CanSat Competition at Elvington Airfield. This marked the culmination of several months of work designing, building and testing our CanSat.
The launch event brought together teams from across the UK, each presenting their own technical approach to the challenge. On the day, we completed final checks before our CanSat was launched. Observing the launch process and seeing our CanSat successfully deployed was a great experience.
While our team did not progress to the next stage of the competition, the project itself proved valuable from a learning perspective. Throughout the process, we developed practical skills in areas such as systems design, data handling and problem-solving, as well as gaining experience of working to deadlines and responding to technical constraints.
Overall, involvement in the CanSat Competition provided a structured introduction to managing an engineering project from initial concept through to testing and deployment. Despite not advancing further, it has been a great experience for us all. We’d like to thank everyone who helped us during the competition, we couldn’t have made it this far without you.
