The Reliance Geared Transducer (RGT) is a ruggedised elevation encoder gearbox specifically designed and developed by Reliance to combat common problems with shock and vibration on military vehicle, position measurement and feedback systems.
One of the key design objectives was to design out the need for a high line density encoder disc, unsuitable for applications subjected to high levels of shock and vibration.
Reliance engineers were able to achieve the high resolution required without the need for a high line density on the encoder disc by utilising precision mechanics to provide a large step up ratio.
